Spring 2009 Issue Just Released!

We launched the Journal of Pediatric, Maternal & Family Health – Chiropractic at the beginning of the year with the first article of the inaugural issue. We are proud to report that the Winter 2009 Issue is completed and we have begun publication of the Spring 2009 Issue and have a number of very exciting papers to release. The first is a wonderful clinical study by Dr. Erin Elster reporting on results in 16 infants who had colic and acid reflux. This is a fantastic study and should be read by all chiropractors and then shared with their patients and community.

I want to take a moment to thank all of you that have subscribed to the journal and/or submitted papers in response to the Call for Papers. As I wrote in the inaugural issue we are at a critical time in the profession and even more so when it comes to the issues surrounding pediatric chiropractic care. Just since we started publication this year the care of children by chiropractors has been attacked in the media and in the research world. The need for research on chiropractic pediatrics and pregnancy cannot be overstated.

If you have not already subscribed please do so today and please don’t stop there – forward this Update to a close friend and colleague and encourage them to subscribe. Your subscription helps defray the costs of providing a home for those in our profession who choose to take the bold step and engage in research for the betterment of the profession.

In addition to subscribing I encourage you to take the next step and engage in the process of research. The easiest way for a practitioner to do this is through the writing of a case study and we have some resources to help you do that. Take one of the miracles from your office and turn it into a case study research paper that the whole world can read and share.

Beyond that please utilize us as a resource - use the research published in the journal to educate your patients and community. Distribute press releases in your community about each paper as its published - check out our press room for copies of press releases you can simply tweak and use in your community. Use the information we provide in the Research Updates and Health News Updates  in your patient newsletters. Send your patients to the site so they can see that there is research and information that supports your style of chiropractic. There all all sorts of ways to use the information we are providing to you - take advantage of it.

Again, I want to thank you for supporting our efforts and I look forward to your feedback, comments and suggestions.

Regards,
Matthew McCoy, DC, MPH
