Health care consumes 16% of our gross domestic product and economists are now suggesting that the coming crash of the health care infrastructure will dwarf the recent meltdown of the financial industry.

Such realities should make our scrutiny of the current presidential candidate’s plans for solving the healthcare crisis any provider’s priority. This urgency is even more significant for our profession given the marketplace we find ourselves in.

What is best for us as a profession, what is best for our patients and what is best for the country should all be considered.
